Troy Lee Designs is an American action sports apparel (mx & mtb) and custom paint company, founded in 1981.
They are in their own words: the place where “The World’s Fastest Racers” go when only the best will do.
But who owns the company?
That, and more, is what we’ll help you with here.

Who started the company?
Troy Lee started what was the first step to TLD 1981 in Corona, California.
Troy Lee was a sign painter. Painting anything from airplanes, mailboxes and helmets. Eventually more and more of his pro racing friends wanted custom painted motocross helmets. So Troy Lee Designs was born.
Besides the custom painting of helmets, he also offered custom-made visors. Visors which he designed and made himself.
The first product they designed and manufactured was a mountain bike helmet. Later that grew into a complete line of apparel, protection equipment and helmets.
TLD started to develop a line of motocross gear in 1998. By 2004 that had grown to a full line of motocross gear.
And the rest is, as they say, history!
Where is Troy Lee Designs headquarters?
